The Mercian Regiment
The Mercian Regiment is a British Army infantry regiment that was formed in 2007. The regiment was created by merging several regiments, including the Cheshire Regiment, the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment, and the Staffordshire Regiment.
The Mercian Regiment is based in the United Kingdom and has its headquarters in Lichfield, Staffordshire. The regiment has several battalions, including the 1st Battalion, which is based in Bulford, Wiltshire, and the 2nd Battalion, which is based in Cyprus. The regiment also has a number of reserve battalions that are spread out across the United Kingdom.

Rug Couture have made many logo rugs over the years, and for this project our client 'The Mercian Regiment' required a large custom rug size of 250 x 450cm for the Picton Barracks in Wiltshire UK.
The client supplied us with artwork for the design and we speedily dispatched a selection of colour poms and rug quality samples for the client to choose from. Our client chose a total of seven colours for the design, and opted for thin pile hand tufted wool for the rug. Rug Couture made a graph to scale for the design which was emailed over to our client and approved, the rug went into production and when in finishing the text components of the design were carved by hand to ensure they stand out.
